IPL Pigmentation Correction Treatment

Expectations + Care

What to expect with IPL Pigmentation Correction

IPL devices emit multiple wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin. The light is absorbed by pigmented areas (like sunspots) or blood vessels (like spider veins), heating them up and eventually causing them to break down. This process promotes collagen production and improves overall skin texture.

During your IPL treatment, your skin will first be cleansed to remove any impurities and ensure optimal results. You will be provided with protective goggles to wear during the treatment. The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment is then administered, targeting specific skin pigmentation concerns, After the lPL treatment, a soothing moisturizer is applied to hydrate and calm your skin. Finally, a layer of sunscreen is applied to protect your skin from sun damage and to help maintain your results.

Over time, the treated pigmented areas flake off or are absorbed by the body, resulting in a more even skin tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do results last?

Results from IPL treatments can be long-lasting, especially if you maintain good sun protection and skincare. However, periodic maintenance sessions may be recommended to address new pigment concerns or as part of an overall skincare regimen.

Are there any contraindications in IPL Therapy?

Yes, IPL may not be suitable if you have very dark skin, are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or are taking medications that make your skin sensitive to light. A consultation with a trained practitioner is essential to assess suitability.

Is this procedure painful?

You may experience a snapping sensation on your skin as the pulses of light are delivered. Some people describe it as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin. A cooling gel may be applied before treatment to minimize discomfort.

Are there any side effects to IPL Therapy?

Common side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, or darkening of pigmented spots immediately after treatment. These usually resolve within a few hours to a few days. More serious side effects such as burns or scarring are rare but possible if proper precautions are not followed.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of IPL sessions needed varies depending on the severity of the pigmentation and individual skin type. Typically, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart (usually 4-6 weeks) is recommended for best results.
